OUR UNPRECEDENTED

ELECTORAL STRATEGY

to overcome the 'wasted vote' dilemma created by our unfair first-past-the-post electoral system!

AT GENERAL ELECTIONS

WHEN IN A MINORITY AT WESTMINSTER

ELECTED FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY MPs WILL IMMEDIATELY HOLD AN UNOFFICIAL RE-BALLOT IN THEIR CONSTITUENCY AND VOTE AS INSTRUCTED BY THE WINNING PARTY FOR THE ENTIRE PARLIAMENT — this will enable supporters to vote Fair Britannia Party AND (if the local Fair Britannia Party candidate is elected) still vote for their usual party !!

Although this unprecedented tactic does not COMPLETELY overcome the dreaded undemocratic 'wasted vote dilemma' — where voting for a new party 'just lets the other lot in' — it can significantly dilute its effect. FOR ONCE PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO VOTE FOR THE FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY IN SIGNIFICANT NUMBERS IN A CONSTITUENCY, then it becomes GENUINELY possible for people to vote Fair Britannia Party (at the official election) AND (if The Fair Britannia Party has insufficient MPs to form a Fair Britannia Party government) still get their usual party 'elected' by voting for their usual party at the Fair Britannia Party unofficial post-election constituency ballot.

PLEASE NOTE : The Fair Britannia Party MP WILL NOT STAND in the unofficial post-election constituency ballot. Having failed to achieve a majority at Westminster (at the current election at least), the party will leave the field clear for everyone to vote for their usual parties.

ONCE FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY MPs ARE A MAJORITY IN PARLIAMENT AND IN A POSITION TO FORM A GOVERNMENT, POST-ELECTION CONSTITUENCY BALLOTS WILL NO LONGER BE HELD — FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY MPs WILL AT ALL TIMES VOTE TO IMPLEMENT THE FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY MANIFESTO !

AT LOCAL ELECTIONS

THE FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY DOES NOT STAND FOR ELECTION TO LOCAL COUNCILS

Our message and our agenda is radical-but-reasonable political, economic and cultural reform, NOT seeking election for the sake of it in order to rattle around inconsequentially in local government — generally getting in the way, whilst saddled with the laws, procedures and budgets set by national government and powerless to change much of anything of any consequence.

As a party, we also do not believe in direct election to local government since :

  • local councils have most of their policies and funding set for them by central government anyway
  • only a minority of the electorate bother to vote in local elections
  • the existence of elected local councils encourages and perpetuates an undemocratic, feet-dragging blame-game when central and local government are formed by different political parties.

A policy of non-active involvement at local council level will have the added benefit of allowing the party to focus ALL of its energy and resources on the ONLY ELECTIONS THAT ULTIMATELY COUNT — election to Westminster — simultaneously also sparing our candidates from all the political antics and unpleasant personal confrontations with our implacable political opponents.

INSTEAD, WE WILL HOLD UNOFFICIAL QUARTERLY NATIONWIDE MULTI-ISSUE CONSTITUTIONAL REFERENDUMS !

  • Completed unique ballot papers to be returned at any time throughout each quarterly period and the votes then totalled and publicly declared at the end of the quarter.
  • The referendums will be conducted by an impartial independent body unconnected to The Fair Britannia Party.

THE POLITICAL, CONSTITUTIONAL, FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE MESS THAT IS UK LOCAL GOVERNANCE, HAS BEEN CREATED BY THE OTHER PARTIES — SO UNTIL WE ARE IN A POSITION TO PROPERLY IMPLEMENT OUR OWN POLICIES, WE WILL ESSENTIALLY JUST LET THEM GET ON WITH IT !

OTHER ELECTIONS

We do NOT field candidates in :

  • N.Ireland for elections to Westminster — in light of our proposed referendum on a new deal for N. Ireland
  • Welsh Assembly, Scottish Parliament, NI Assembly — out of respect for a local desire for devolution
  • London Assembly — so as to not lend credibility to this EU-inspired break-up-England institution
  • Police & Crime Commissioner elections — so as to not lend credibility to these largely powerless positions that were introduced by David Cameron in spite of having almost no public support.

OTHER STRATEGIES

PUBLICITY, DEBATES, INTERVIEWS, HUSTINGS

Having witnessed the many-months-long, lie-based, shouting-match farce that was the 2016 EU Referendum 'Debate', the so-called 'mainstream' media and the big parties have shown beyond any shadow of doubt that ALL OF THEM are quite incapable of telling the truth and debating in a fair and honest manner. They just lie relentlessly, rig debates and enthusiastically false-accuse and personally smear those with whom they are in disagreement. They showed that they were quite happy to do this, even when the issue at stake was the biggest political issue since the second World War, and the referendum was one that the electorate had been campaigning for, FOR 40 YEARS.

Further, the totalitarian, bigoted and aggressive public and political culture that the long-term policies, practices and propaganda of the big parties and the mainstream media have created in the minds of both their vociferous activists and a significant proportion of the politically-interested general public, mean that engaging verbally in a reasonable and reasoned way with practically anyone in opposition has become very-nearly literally impossible.

The Fair Britannia Party policies on debate and publicity are therefore to :

  • NOT take part in ANY public debates
  • NOT to give ANY interviews to ANY media organisation (broadcast, print or blog) with a track-record of NOT supporting Truth, Democracy and Freedom
  • NOT to take part in hustings
  • NOT to verbally engage in any significant way with anyone in disagreement with our policies
  • and NOT to maintain ANY party presence on ANY of the social media websites or platforms — we leave it to our supporters to make our case in this arena.

HOWEVER, WE ABSOLUTELY WILL HEAR AND RECEIVE THE CRITICISMS OF OUR DETRACTORS AND OPPONENTS — and then, ON THIS WEBSITE, publish the essence of the points most commonly made against us (perhaps minus all the expletives!) and provide a written response. As for ANY party, person, organisation or political stance, there ARE valid points that CAN be made against us — and as we have already conceded elsewhere, some of them are SIGNIFICANT ones!

In the present totalitarian political climate and aggressive confrontational public culture, it is felt that this is the best, safest and least emotionally-draining way, to both model the polite, respectful democratic politics and culture that as a party we hope to see re-established in Britain, and the best way too, to recommend our party, our policies, and (to a lesser extent) ourselves, to the general voting public — the majority of whom are significantly more reasonable, more responsible and more open-minded than the average angry activist vociferously agitating for the destruction of truth, morality, the nation state, freedom and democracy !!

MARCHES AND RALLIES

The Fair Britannia Party does NOT support the holding of marches, rallies or even an annual party conference.

Although existing supporters and activists can get inspiration from them, they do have several significant negatives:

  • they attract opposition from similarly-motivated supporters and activists from other parties, which can so easily spill over into confrontation
  • they can be hi-jacked by political opponents who whilst pretending to be supporters deliberately cause trouble, hoping it will be blamed on the party
  • whenever motivated, like-minded folk gather, the human dynamics of the situation almost inevitably cause emotions to become inflamed, encouraging a descent into inflammatory rhetoric, simplistic cartoon 'debate' and ultimately calls for the adoption of extreme policies.

OUR REALISTIC GOALS

MAY 2029 GENERAL ELECTION

  • Stand a candidate in EVERY constituency and get an election address leaflet to EVERY household in the country.
  • Qualify for a Party Election Broadcast in England, Scotland and Wales.
  • Win 15% of the overall vote and be within 5,000 votes of winning in 20% of constituencies.
  • Achieve a level of visibility and broad-based demographic and geographic support to provide a solid base to enable the party to then make rapid progress before the following general election in 2034.

A POSSIBLE FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY PATH TO POWER

  • 2034 Win 20% of the overall vote and be the 3rd-placed party in number of MPs.
  • 2039 Win 40% of the overall vote and achieve an overall majority at Westminster.

OUR FULL MANIFESTO WILL NEED AT LEAST TWO PARLIAMENTS TO IMPLEMENT RESPONSIBLY,

BUT THE KEY STRUCTURAL POLICIES WILL NEED TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN A SINGLE PARLIAMENT

The experience of other countries electing a new party with a radical democratic reform agenda is that unless the institutional power base of the old anti-democratic establishment is abolished in its entirety, then it can be used as a basis for a 'push back' that can hinder or even completely derail the process of democratic reform (for e.g. Brazil). TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING, THE FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY WILL IMPLEMENT ALL OF ITS MAJOR STRUCTURAL REFORMS IN A SINGLE TERM OF OFFICE.

A first-term Fair Britannia Party government will therefore bring forward legislation to implement the following elements of the full manifesto:

  • The Multi-Issue Constitutional Referendum and All Reforms Approved In The Referendum By The British People
  • Media Reforms
  • Justice System Reforms
  • Housing, Land and Property Reforms
  • Stock Exchange, Banking and Insurance Reforms
  • Employer and Employee Rights Reforms
  • Benefit Reforms
  • Pension Reforms
  • Health Reforms
  • Education Reforms

These reforms amount to major, wholesale, structural reform that will fundamentally alter the very nature of politics, the economy and the public culture in Britain. Once completed, many of these reforms will be VERY difficult for opposition parties to subsequently 'undo'. THE INTENTION IS THAT THE ELECTION OF A SINGLE FAIR BRITANNIA PARTY GOVERNMENT WILL BE SUFFICIENT TO ENSURE THAT THERE IS 'NO GOING BACK'.

A second-term Fair Britannia Party government will further entrench and complete the reform process through the implementation of the many less significant additional policies that form part of our manifesto.

BROADER NON-ELECTION GOALS

  • Powerfully campaign for REAL democracy and major constitutional reform in Britain.
  • Raise awareness of the real issues facing us all in the modern Britain of today, and do so in a non-inflammatory way.
  • Encourage the larger parties to adopt at least a couple of our minor policies for the 2029 general election and implement changes that yield easier, freer, happier lives for ordinary people.
  • Be a happy home at election time for a constructive 'none of the above' protest vote.
  • Encourage ordinary people to become better informed and more politically active — rather than just leaving the experienced politicians and cultural experts to get on with the misguided dismantling of so much in public life that makes for the common good.
  • Suggest a set of policies that hold out the possibility of real change of a kind that can genuinely unify the country as never before.
  • Encourage and strengthen a natural sense of community spirit by encouraging people to complete voluntary practical tasks in the community.
  • Encourage a return to the good sense of Judaeo-Christian ethics as a solid, enduring basis for the public culture and consciousness of Britain.
  • Support and promote the spread of New Testament-based, reformed, evangelical, Pentecostal Christianity — for the significant benefits that flow from it, to individuals, to communities and to society at large.
