ABOUT THE PARTY

PARTY STATUS

  • The Fair Britannia Party is registered with Companies House as a Company Limited By Guarantee (Company No. 10894507).
  • In addition to being a company without shares (so does not pay dividends), the company articles of association (which are the party's constitution) include clauses establishing the company as a non-profit concern, with non-profit restrictions on the disposal of company assets in the event of the company's dissolution.
  • The company is registered in England and Wales.
  • Registered Office: 27, Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX.
  • The full articles of association are available here.

PARTY OBJECTIVES

The objects of the party are stated in the Articles of Association as follows:

"6. Objects

6.1       The objects of the Company are to carry on activities which benefit the community.

6.2       In particular and without limitation, those activities shall include political activities and campaigning to establish :

- a political system in Britain that incorporates a written constitution and regular national referendums

- a Social Market economy

- a more united Britain through greater equality

- a public culture that promotes Judaeo-Christian ethics and belief in New-Testament-based, Reformed, Evangelical, Pentecostal Christianity."

[ The party's policies promoting Christian belief are very modest, non-intrusive ones and full details are available in our Christian manifesto. ]

NO FORMAL MEMBERSHIP OR ELECTED NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

  • To try and avoid the problems that have afflicted nearly all the other parties over the years — that of constant in-fighting amongst the membership, cabals on the NEC, cabals within cabals on the NEC, entryism (where supporters of other parties join a new party in order to hijack its agenda or impede its progress) — and all the other dishonest, miserable shenanigans that political types so love to engage in, The Fair Britannia Party has neither formal membership nor National Executive Committee. Instead, the party is run in similar fashion to a limited company, with ALL aspects of the party's affairs simply being determined by the Board of Directors, some of whom are also the only party Members.
  • In this regard, although some may criticise the party for its lack of democracy within, in the long run, it is felt that this is the best (perhaps the only) way to preserve the independent stance of the party and help protect its distinctive agenda from erosion by opponents from within and from without. A healthy, modern democracy requires the preservation of a broad, genuine choice for voters on election day, NOT that political parties themselves be run in a democratic way.

PAYMENT OF DIRECTORS

  • Politics is no place for part-timers and it is unreasonable to expect anyone to work full-time at a difficult and demanding task for no pay at all.
  • In order for those without savings or pension (or trust fund !) to be able to serve the party in a full-time capacity, the constitution permits directors to receive payment for their services to the company up to a maximum of 35 hours/week at the National Living Wage (from 1st April 2025, £12.21/hour for the over 21s). The articles specifically addressing directors' remuneration and expenses are available here.

PARTY ACCOUNTS

This party is committed to financial transparency. After formal registration with the Electoral Commission as a political party :

  • a detailed income and expenditure account will be published on this website each quarter. The income and expenditure accounts will include details of any salaries or expenses claimed by directors, employees and volunteers
  • the party's annual accounts will be audited each year by a publicly accredited auditor with no connection to the party.

PERSONNEL

PARTY FOUNDER / CHAIRMAN

NAME : Geoff Summerfield

AGE : 63

POLITICAL

  • I am a long-term supporter of the Democratic cause in Britain — having delivered leaflets or erected posterboards for The Referendum Party, Campaign For An Independent Britain, UKIP and the Leave campaign. At one general election — where it was particularly important to keep the pro-EU elements out of government — I campaigned for the Conservative Party.
  • Under the name of 'The Real Referendum on Europe', I launched a website and door-to-door leafleting campaign for a referendum on the UK's whole relationship with the EU (not just on the Euro) — with options of 'Leave The EU', 'Associate EU Membership', 'Keep The Pound' and 'Join The Euro'.
  • Voting Record :

General Elections: in younger years, I was a regular LibDem supporter, in early middle age, a regular Conservative voter, and for the last 20 years or so I have voted Referendum Party and then (mostly) UKIP.

Local Elections: like most people, I essentially voted for the same party as at general elections. At one local election however, with a particularly active Labour councillor as candidate, I voted Labour. Most recently, at local elections, I have become one of the many who don't bother to vote at all.

  • I believe in a straightforward, public-service, 'voluntary work' approach to politics, rather than pointless heated exchanges and silly, superficial word games.

EDUCATIONAL / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.A. Economics (Hons.) — Sheffield University
  • Part-Qualified Accountant (C.I.M.A.)

WORK EXPERIENCE

I have a professional background in accountancy, computer programming and estate management, with additional temporary and agency work experience covering most areas of working life — including fruit-picking, bar work, magazine distribution, warehouseman, work study assistant, psychiatric nursing assistant, labourer, dustman, clerical assistant, canteen assistant, van driver, parish council handyman and, most recently, leaflet distribution.

COMMUNITY

  • I am a former Founder Member, Secretary and Treasurer of Ipswich Dial-A-Ride — a door-to-door transport service for disabled people.
  • I have several years experience of volunteering with disabled groups in the Ipswich area — including work as welfare rights advisor and volunteer driver.
  • More recently, from 2012 until 2020, I was non-profit self-employed(!?), engaging in political campaigning and completing practical tasks in the community (for e.g. tree pruning, litter-picking and removing graffiti).
  • Since early 2020, I have been developing ideas and producing content for 'The Fair Britannia Party' and 'New Testament Salvation' websites.

PERSONAL

  • I have experience of life lived on the upside and the downside :

Educated at independent secondary schools, graduation with a university degree and professional status in the workplace, together with significant success in many sports at youth level — including football, cross-country, table tennis and golf.

But with a mild stammer, profound hearing loss in both ears (largely corrected by surgery), together with lifelong, mild mental health issues resulting in a reclusive, 'eggshell personality', a sketchy work record and long-term reliance on disability benefits ( Potential supporters needn't worry, however — you don't have to be 'mental' to support the party. That's entirely optional! ).

In recent years, the housing shortage and widespread anti-social behaviour within the social housing sector has forced me to endure several spells of homelessness whilst 'between homes' helping to further inform my politics!

  • I am a born-again Christian, whose beliefs and spiritual experiences accord with established Reformed, Evangelical, Pentecostal traditions.
REGISTRATIONS OFFICER

The party is currently seeking a Registrations Officer to enable The Fair Britannia Party to be registered with the Electoral Commission and contest elections under its party name. The position of Registrations Officer is unpaid.

As defined in the Articles of Association the role of the Registrations Officer will be as follows :

13.5    The Directors may also appoint a Registrations Officer.

13.5.1  The person appointed to the office of Registrations Officer shall NOT thereby become a member or a director of the Company.

13.5.2 The Registrations Officer has no right to attend or vote at meetings of the directors or members of the Company.

13.5.3 The Registrations Officer has no powers, duties or responsibilities pertaining to any aspect of the Company's affairs other than to act as a second signatory for the Company on official documentation in relation to such matters as registration of the Company with regulatory bodies, the opening of a Company bank account, applying for a PO Box in the name of the Company, and similar purely administrative matters. The Registrations Officer has no other role, duty, rights or responsibilities and takes no part in any decision-making processes of the Company or Party.

13.5.4 The Directors may at any time remove the Registrations Officer from office.

Rather than fielding approaches from unknown applicants, it is hoped that the position will be able to be filled by a personal invitation from the Party Chairman.

WE APOLOGISE...

We apologise for our unimpressive 'ordinariness' — a thoroughgoing ordinariness that might deter some from voting for The Fair Britannia Party. It is undeniable, that in a whole host of ways it would be better, much better, if we were not quite so, well, 'ordinary'. But please, don't be put of by 'the personalities'. Personality politics is just another game the media like to play so they can manipulate political support by manipulating public perceptions of politicians' superficial and usually largely irrelevant personality traits. PLEASE DON'T SUPPORT 'US' sooner or later 'we' will probably let you down ( or the media will succeed in making you believe we have ! ). SUPPORT THE POLICIES. It is the POLICIES of political parties and of governments that affect (often profoundly) the daily lives of voters, of their children, and of their grandchildren NOT personalities. And it is the policies of parties and of government that remain long after the personnel and the personalities proposing and implementing those policies have gone.

In defence of our ordinariness, we would also make the following observations :

  • WE HAVE ALL BEEN VOTING FOR PARTIES FOUNDED AND RUN BY THE 'MOVERS AND SHAKERS' — BY THE 'SUPER-DUDES' — FOR DECADES, AND LOOK WHERE THAT HAS GOTTEN US !
  • In 2002, Stuart Drummond stood for election as Hartlepool mayor — standing as H'Angus the Monkey, the Hartlepool United football team mascot!! He was duly elected. And then re-elected in 2005. And again in 2009.

[ He remained undefeated, as the councillors and local people voted to abolish mayoral elections in 2012. Quite. ]

THE SUPER-DUDES CAN BE VERY OUT-OF-TOUCH

  • In politics, as in life, it is possible (in some ways) to be a victim of your own success. And in many significant ways the achievement of a lifetime of success, status and influence can be a hindrance in truly democratic politics (although not in pseudo-democratic or blatantly undemocratic politics!). For the success and the influence has often come at the price of an inability to genuinely empathise (from the heart, not just conceptually from the head) with the fears, hopes, dreams, inadequacies, hindrances and struggles that are the daily stuff of life for most ordinary folk.
  • Travelling the road to success too, has almost inevitably entailed accepting much of the mindset, practices and foundational implicit beliefs of the vested interests — almost inevitably limiting political vision : to one of merely tinkering with, and largely defending, the unfair, usurious status quo.
  • In this context, it is perhaps relevant and appropriate to note that one of the reasons that ordinary people have had their meaningful vote, their country and their culture stolen from them in recent decades has been the out-of-touch, elitist attitudes of their leaders, far too many of whom have been long-taught by birth, by education and by career, to hold an opinion of themselves and their peers too high, and an opinion of everyone else too low.

IN GOVERNMENT, THERE WILL BE NO SHORTAGE OF EXPERIENCED ADVISORS

  • For our part, once in power, our party, our government, our cabinet, WILL HAVE NO SHORTAGE OF GENUINELY EXPERT, EXPERIENCED ADVISORS UPON WHOM TO DRAW FOR INFORMATION, ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE.
  • There is also the small matter of the 430,000 civil servants — who probably know a thing or two about the intricacies of policy implementation!
  • Also, when it comes to rightly-understanding many aspects of democracy and culture it is not really a technical matter at all — suitable only for the ministrations of experts — but a question of instincts, gut and common sense.
  • Finally, in each genuinely technical area of policy of crucial financial significance — housing market reform, stock exchange reform, tax reform and pensions reform — our policy (clearly stated in our manifesto) is to establish a commission to help provide us with truly workable solutions.

IN TOTALITARIAN TIMES, PERHAPS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALIFICATION FOR OFFICE IS BEING A TRUE DEMOCRAT

  • Recent decades have surely also shown that far and away the most important qualification for high political office in the present climate of the creeping abolition of truth, democracy and freedom, IS A WILLINGNESS TO HEAR AND RESPECT THE WILL, THE WAY, AND THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF ORDINARY PEOPLE.
  • And the beauty of REAL democracy — which is the kind of democracy that a SINGLE term of office by a Fair Britannia Party government will bring to Britain — is that should The Fair Britannia Party prove to be 'just like all the rest', or 'just not up to it', THEN THE BRITISH PEOPLE CAN SIMPLY VOTE US OUT.
